Day Of The Dead is a Mexican Holiday with Mexican Celebrations that date way back to the Aztec Times. Day of the dead celebration takes place on November 1st and November 2nd but, Mexicans spend a week or two before the Day Of The Dead Celebration just preparing for The Day Of The Dead Celebrations in Mexico. The Mexican women start with making sugar candies and even candy in the shape of skulls. The Mexican Women bake Breads with sugar coating or sugar sprinkles and other Traditional Mexican foods and candy for the Dead and living to celebrate El Dia Des Los Muertos aka DAY OF THE DEAD. Mexican Families share their homemade candies and homemade breads with the living and dead all during this celebration time.

The Mexican Holiday known as Day Of The Dead is not a sad event of tears or sorrow for missing their loved ones. Mexicans look at the day of the dead as a happy festival and time to remember and welcome home the dead for a celebration with the living and dead to come together. Some of the Mexican people believe that the dead return to be with the living on the DAY OF THE DEAD. Odd enough this is also the same time as All Saints Day also called All Souls Day. All Saints Day is a Catholic Holliday or Catholic Celebration.

November 1st is the day Mexicans remember the lost or dead souls of the younger or Children. The day of November 1st is the celebration for the return of the dead children to visit their loved ones. November 2nd is the Adult Celebrations or or Adult Celebrations to remember the Adults that have died and welcome their souls home for a visit.

They say that at the Day Of The Dead parties or celebrations they do not cry but instead the people are happy and waiting for the dead to come join them in a reunion celebration for these days. Some of the Mexican stories and folklores tell that the reason Mexicans do not cry or shed tears during the day of the dead celebrations is because tears would make the path back for the Dead become slippery so their souls could not return when the Day Of The Dead celebration was over.

The most popular traditions at the day of the dead celebrations seem to be skull masks and skull face paintings & day of the dead skeletons or skeleton costumes and even devils. At day of the dead parties even the Devil comes out to party and remind the Mexican people not to stray from goodness and to avoid the path of Evil. I can see how this Mexican Celebration is very special and it could help people all over the world start to look at death in a less scary was and help the great sorrow felt when someone is lost by giving one hope they will see them again in this world. Sometimes if you look at things in other ways or through others eyes it can help you sort things out and deal with sorry and difficult times due to the loss of family members and loved ones.

The Mexican belief is much like the Aztec Religion or belief in the way that they think of death as being a port hole or another dimension we pass through. It is like when we die we are not really gone forever but, we instead are just not among the living in the physical way. We however have moved onto another type of being or life form. This I do believe and know to be true in ways. If you read about the life after death article you will understand how I can be very sure that we are not just gone in darkness. There is something there and it is wonderful but, we are not allowed to pass over or pass on before our time is up on this earth.

In 2007 I was invited to my first live painting at a Day Of The Dead Festival in Texas *USA Celebration for the Mexican holiday Day Of the Dead. Some of the text below is from that time period.

I was happy and proud to be invited to and be part of the 2007 Day Of The Dead Celebration in Fort Worth Texas at the Ridglea Theater. DFW kids or adults found leigh girl aka me out there painted and doing face painting at DAY OF THE DEAD Party.

The Day Of The Dead Celebration was fun and I love painting day of the dead skeletons and making up skull face paintings so it even made me makeup new pages for Colorful day of the dead skulls here. Day Of The Dead Party in Fort Worth Texas was held on November 3rd 2007 for a rock and roll party & fun Day Of The Dead Festival. I painted at the Fort Worth Ridglea Theater for the Day Of The Dead and Rock The Dead Festival and got to meet some really cool people there as well. Fort Worth Theater had a great Day of the dead celebration for the Mexican Holiday Day Of The Dead.

The Day Of The Dead (Rock & Roll Party & Day Of The Dead Celebration was held at the Fort Worth Theater & was a fun and cool event. I was thinking there would be more skeleton faces and skeleton face paint or even devil facepaint requests however, even I did not go painted as a devil or in skull facepaint. Check out the links for the Day of the dead festival to see my uv facepaint or uv face painting that I did prior to the concert. Seems everyone wanted something different for their day of the dead costumes or face paintings and few of the american people wanted to be scary stuff or even skulls and skeletons. Some people wanted pretty things like butterflies and even lots of tribal art ect.
